Velankanni Walker's Social Service (VWSS) is a pilgrimage group which was started by Mr. Lancy Jacob 50 years ago inspired by the love of our Blessed Mother of Velankanni.

It was in 1973, Lancy Jacob started the first "Walk of Faith" that set the foundation to this mammoth pilgrimage, putting the body to physical test and the mind to seek spiritual abundance. This pilgrimage "Walk of Faith" today embraces diversity, with people from various religions and backgrounds walking to our Mother’s feet at Velankanni with confidence that she would obtain our pleas and bring peace to our troubles and misfortunes.

VWSS is proud to be the pioneer group of this pilgrimage to Velankanni — not only participating, but growing responsibly by touching many lives through good deeds and setting an example for other groups that have emerged over the years.

We take this moment to remember and pray for all our fellow walkers and their family members who have sought their eternal reward and rest in peace with our Lord Jesus Christ.

We extend heartfelt thanks and prayers to all our sponsors who provided food and accommodation along the way. May our Mother bless them with perpetual good health, happiness, and peace.

We also express gratitude to Mr. Rex Jacob, Mr. Paul Vitalis, Mr. Oscar Lyons, our senior walkers, and all group members who have inspired and led VWSS over the past 50 years by example.
